Oyeye daisy sometimes called moon daisy,margueriite or dog daisy-is a perrennial commonly found in meadows,chalk downlands &other sunny grassland sites.A firm favorite and one of the earliest plants to flower in our meadow area's.
It takes over as cowslips begin to fade and continues throughout most of the summer.
Growing up to 70 cms tall and it makes a lovely addition to area's of long grass & lawn hedges.
In the borders too Oxeye Daisy will add an exuberant splash of white and yellow by day and a magical luminious white on a moonlit night.
A valuable nectar plant,the flat open flowers of this daisy attracts butterflies including small tortoiseshell & red admiral.

A fragrent meadow herb with small white flowers that appear like umbels at the top of the stalks.Known as the queen of the meadows Meadowsweet,Water mint & Vervain were the three herbs held most sacred by the druids.Meadowsweet was added to wine & beer up until the 14th century as a sweetener & clarifier.
The herb is collected in July when in flower.Meadowsweet is visted by bee's for the pollen.

Meadowsweet helps with Heartburn,reduces diarrhoea.The dried herb used in a pint of water is a good diet drink.An infusion of the fresh tops produces perspiration.Distilled water made with the flowers is also useful for inflamation of the eyes.
